Our Newest Game: Junk Drawer

Created by Winsmith Games LLC

Organize that messy junk drawer to score the most points in this tile-laying game Players organize their junk drawer by carefully arranging various shaped items within the four sections. Each section has a unique organizational goal and each round, players must place one item in each section. At the end of the game, each section earns points based on how well they are organized. The player with the highest score wins.

Junk Drawer Fulfillment is COMPLETE! Thank You All So Much!!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 02, 2023 at 09:08:14 AM

Happy Monday Backers!

Just wanted to post a short update to let you know that both Domestic and International shipping of Junk Drawer is complete! We had a few bumps in the road with International shipping costs and VAT charges, but otherwise, fulfillment was pretty swift! If you're reading this and you have not received your pledge, please reach out to us immediately!  The only pledges left outstanding were from folks who did not fully complete the pledge manager, but once you do, we will have your games shipped as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Now, for a couple of thank yous.  First and foremost a big thank you to you, our wonderful backers, for making this our second successful campaign.  As a small publisher, we always feel like we're sailing into the unknown when we launch a campaign, but we have been so pleased with the reception the game has received.  Thank you for believing in us and the wonderful team we have worked with!

Our next thank you goes out to our amazing artist, Asha Farmer, who really brought this game's unique theme to life.  From the minute we saw Asha's work (find her here!), her beautiful and colorful style fit exactly with what we wanted in a game that needed to make regular objects pop and stand out.  Thank you Asha!

Another thanks go out to our two graphic designers, Sebastian Koziner and Jon Merchant!  We worked with both of these fine gentlemen on our first campaign and can't recommend them enough.  Sebastian handled our main game graphic design (find him here!) and Jon helped us design our Kickstarter page and all of our final prep for manufacturing (find him here!). Thank you both, you both have an extraordinary skill!

Gameland Manufacturing is our next thank you (find them here!).  They produced this amazing game and working with them was seamless.  They made this project affordable for a small publisher like us and the quality of the game was amazing (especially those dual layer boards!).  They were great partners and we can't recommend them enough!

Our last thank you goes out to Chad Elkins and 25th Century Games, for his partnership and help in getting our U.S. fulfillment done through another company on such short notice.  He served as a mentor for us and has taught us a lot during this campaign.  He also helped get Junk Drawer out to even more people through our distribution partnership and graciously let us demo the game and meet some of you at their GenCon booth! Chad embodies the board game tabletop family as someone who's willing to give you the shirt off of their back to help bring games to more people.  Oh, he also runs a fantastic board game company (check it out here!) with games we are sure you've played before! Thank you Chad!

What's next?

  •  PAX Unplugged - PAX Unplugged is a tabletop convention held every year in Philadelphia, PA.  We have attended as gamers in past years, but we are really excited to operate our first major booth at this convention.  So if you are going to be there, please stop by our booth (we will post the booth number here once we get it) and say hi.  We would love to take pictures with you and David will sign your copy of Junk Drawer if you'd like! :-)

  •  Adventure Party - Our third game, Adventure Party, is co-published with the amazing Smirk and Dagger Games and successfully funded on Kickstarter earlier this year.  If you've never played a Role Playing Game (RPG), we would argue this is the easiest way to get you into the genre without complicated rulebooks or character sheets.  And if you're a seasoned role player, you will love how easy this is to play in a party setting and we've even included some amazing role-playing scenarios written by famous Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Masters! The picture below sums up the premise of the game perfectly.  Check it out and consider late pledging here!
  • We have been developing a game for nearly two years that we plan to Kickstart in 2024.  Can't release details just yet, but more coming soon!  If you're already a member of our monthly newsletter, be on the lookout for these details!

  • For the first time, we have been working with other designers for a game we plan to launch in 2025. This is super exciting for us because we've always published our own game designs, but one of our goals for the future of Winsmith Games is to be able to sign a game from a designer and produce it.  More details will be sent in the future about that as well!

That's it for today, everyone!! Please check out our website WinsmithGames.com to check out our games and sign up for our monthly newsletter to keep up to date on all Winsmith Games news.

Fulfillment Update, GenCon Recap, Plus some Amazing Backer-made Creations!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Aug 11, 2023 at 01:30:16 PM

Hi Backers!

Several great pieces of news to share with you today!  We are almost completely done with fulfillment for Junk Drawer!! Here are the updates by region.

Domestic (US) Fulfillment

We received tracking numbers for all of our orders and most of you should have your games by now :-)  If you do not have your games, please be patient and wait until the end of this week.  If by then, you still don't have your games, shoot us an email and we will look into it for you.

International Fulfillment

We had a goal of finishing packing, labeling and shipping all of our international packages by the end of this week and I am happy to report that has been completed.  I know that some of our international backers have received their games, but most are likely still in transit.  Our international shipping solution required us to ship games to a hub in New York for 90% of packages, where the proper customs forms were attached and new labels tacked on, which can take some time.  For each shipment, we had emails with tracking numbers sent out, so hopefully you've received that by now.  If not, first check your spam/junk mail to see if it ended up in there.  If not, please shoot us an email and we can provide that information to you!  The picture below was just the first half of the shipments.  We only had 80 international orders but man it takes a lot of work to make sure everything is secure and correct.  We are glad to be finished!

Gen Con Recap

We just returned from Gen Con last weekend and it was another amazing weekend! Not only did we get a chance to hang out with some lifelong friends, buy and play some amazing new games, but we also were fortunate enough to demo Junk Drawer live on the convention floor during two of the days.

Our distribution partner 25th Century Games was gracious enough to host us at their booth two separate times to demo and sell Junk Drawer.  They had a limited release of the game (only around 100 copies) with a full retail release slated for early September.  The convention broke attendance records and as a result a number of games completely sold out, forcing publishers to scramble to get an overnight shipment from Atlanta delivered in time for Saturday, the biggest day.  I am happy to report that Junk Drawer was one of those games to sell out! :-) :-) :-)

The game looks so good on the demo tables!
Dave was really excited to sign copies for folks who asked!

Backer-Made Creations

We wanted to highlight two of our backers who have created some amazing Junk Drawer related things.

First, if you ever wanted to see what Junk Drawer would look like in 8-bit form AND have a chance to play it on the computer, here's your chance.  Our backer, @gamedevbrook, built this custom PICO-8 version on itch.io.  Click the picture below to play Junk Drawer, and thank you Brook!

We were blown away that someone would create this!

Second, who doesn't love a custom 3D printed insert, amirite??  Check out this custom design by @ClixAccessories. The design files are free and it holds everything so nice and tidy!  Click the picture to be taken to the download page.  Thank you for creating this, we can't wait to get ours!

The tidiest Junk Drawer we've seen!

Last but not Least...

Thank you, thank you, thank you all again for making this an amazing Kickstarter campaign!  We are happy that it is finally reaching it's conclusion and we're excited for you to play the game with family and friends.  If you have someone who would like the game, our website has been updated to allow for ordering copies (as well as our first game).  For international backers, we've updated the shipping costs for any new orders to better reflect the actual costs we've been incurring while shipping (it's quite a bit more, unsurprisingly).

Order Junk Drawer

We will post another update once we're confident everyone has their games, but that's all for now.

Have a great weekend!

Junk Drawer US shipping is underway!
over 1 year ago – Sun, Jul 23, 2023 at 09:31:54 AM

Backers,

We have heard from a few folks that they have receiving tracking numbers and packages for Junk Drawer, which is great news!!  We are still awaiting the final list from the fulfillment company of all of the tracking numbers in one sheet. Once we receive that we'll be able to tie that to individual BackerKit pledges for you to access there as well.  If you haven't received a tracking number yet, don't worry, you will soon!

For our International Backers, we will be sending you an email with our updated logistics plan and schedule.  Expect to see that email soon!

For all backers, if you receive your pledge and have any issues (missing promos, pieces, damages), please send an email to [email protected] and we will get it solved ASAP.

Thank you all and we can't wait to hear how you're loving the game!!

Junk Drawer at Fulfillment Center!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jul 13, 2023 at 08:46:50 AM

Hi everyone!

Just a quick update today but it's a good one!  We want to let you know that our fulfillment center has received our copies of Junk Drawer and will be starting the domestic US fulfillment process very soon!  We are anticipating that shipping will begin in the next 1-2 weeks after they get everything sorted out and pieced together.  When we start receiving the tracking numbers we will begin assigning them to the backer orders as soon as possible :-)

Just a few quick reminders.

1. International shipping will be done separately and will begin after domestic shipping has already started.  We apologize for the delay in this but we'll work as fast as possible!

2. For anyone who is still just locking orders and updating credit cards, your games will likely be shipping in the second wave of orders, which will occur closer to the end of this month.  Again, we apologize for this but we had to mark the cutoff day for addresses and orders in the first wave at some point.

That's all for today, we are so excited for you to get the game in your hands very soon!!

Junk Drawer is here in the US! Plus, Address Lock Dates!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jun 28, 2023 at 07:23:15 PM

Hi Backers!

Guess what?!?! We just learned yesterday that the games have landed in the US, are being put on a truck, and will be at the fulfillment center soon! This is much quicker than expected, and so we are moving our intended final locking dates forward, which is a good thing!!

Shipping has been Charged, Orders are now locked

Shipping costs should have been charged to your method of payment on file this past Saturday.  After the initial charges, there are still around 25 folks who had their cards rejected.

We cannot send your rewards without having everything paid for, so please check to make sure your card is up-to-date and if not, update it and BackerKit will automatically charge the remaining shipping costs.

If you do not update your card information soon, you are at risk of missing the first wave of shipments once the fulfillment company starts processing orders.

Address Locking Dates - this Friday!

Additionally, we have to lock addresses very soon in order to provide this shipping report, so please make sure the address on file is correct.  We will be locking addresses this Friday, June 30th at midnight! I know this is quick but this is so we can get the initial list over to fulfillment to start processing everything in the next 1-2 weeks.  This is a good thing gamers!

If you miss the deadline...

Please let us know ASAP, but we cannot guarantee that your pledge will make it into the first wave of shipping (early July).  If that happens, a second wave of shipping will occur later in July (likely the last week).

International Shipping

International backers, we hope to begin shipping your pledges the last week of July.  It is unfortunate that this is delayed but we will work as fast as possible to get everything shipped ASAP and will update you further when we know more.

That's all for now.  We'll be back with more updates soon!!
