Our Newest Game: Junk Drawer

Created by Winsmith Games LLC

Organize that messy junk drawer to score the most points in this tile-laying game Players organize their junk drawer by carefully arranging various shaped items within the four sections. Each section has a unique organizational goal and each round, players must place one item in each section. At the end of the game, each section earns points based on how well they are organized. The player with the highest score wins.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick reminder that all orders will be locked as of 9 AM this Saturday and shipping costs will be charged.  If you would like to add-on or change anything about your order (other than address), this is the time to do it.  You should have just received an email from BackerKit with a 48 hour notice as well.

Let us know if you have any questions before that time!

Have a great weekend!

The Shipping Update!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jun 13, 2023 at 02:23:43 PM

Hello Backers!

We are back with our next update and this one is focused on shipping and the timing of the rest of the campaign.

Junk Drawer is on a boat right now and is sailing towards Savannah, GA where it will land in port. We are anticipating that it will land in port near the end of this month (which is great news!). Once it lands, there will need to be Customs checks and coordination to load the games onto a truck.  Thankfully, our delivery location is in Atlanta, GA so not too far! Once delivered it will have to be unpacked and then repacked into individual shipments.  We are hoping that US fulfillment can start sometime in early August.  With that being said, we are looking at two changes to our original campaign plan for shipping.

Change #1: Shipping Charges

We have always said throughout this process that shipping will be charged closer to the actual backer shipment date because we don't want to make a mistake charging shipping too early and then getting having increased shipping charges and either having to absorb all of the difference or come back to backers asking for more money.  We have gotten updated shipping quotes and our bottom line is that we will be adding $2 to all of the shipping charges listed on the campaign page (see updated charges in the graphic below).  That $2 does not cover then entire difference in shipping and we (Winsmith Games) are choosing to subsidize the rest of the shipping charges above that $2.

Change #2: International Fulfillment

In addition to the updated shipping charges, we are going to have to alter our International shipping and fulfillment plan.  As a result of our previous fulfillment company going out of business, we had to find a new provider and the overall cost for International shipping is much higher than what we were quoted last year.  We have identified an alternative plan that we're working through, but the bottom line is that we will likely have to fulfill International shipping separately after our US fulfillment has already begun. This means that International order will be delayed some, but we will be working diligently to get it to backers as quick as possible.  We will update you more as we get more information.

BackerKit Timeline for Charging Shipping and Add-Ons

On June 23rd, we will be locking down all orders and processing final charges for any add-ons, preorders, and shipping charges.  Since you already provided credit card information when we first launched the pledge manager, you should not have to do anything extra.  On that day, all credit cards on file will be charged the remaining balance according to the shipping table above.  We will send out final reminders 48 hours before cards are charged.  If you want to see the totals of what we'll be charging, you can log in to BackerKit and check there.  And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!

That's all for today, we will be back soon with more updates!

Junk Drawer Production is COMPLETE! Plus BackerKit locking dates!
over 1 year ago – Thu, May 25, 2023 at 05:05:49 AM

Hi Backers!!

Great news to bring to you today!  We have confirmation that Junk Drawer production is complete, packed, and loaded onto the shipping container that will bring it over to the US, woohoo!!  We haven't gotten news that it's actually on the boat yet but we anticipate that happening soon.  Here is a picture of everything loaded into the container :-)

So let's talk schedule.  We anticipate being loaded and on the water by the end of the month/very beginning of next month.  The average sailing time right now is between 30-45 days, which means Junk Drawer should be landing in the states between the beginning and middle of July.   That means we are looking at fulfillment starting near the end of July and continuing into August.  That's just past our original schedule, which is not ideal, but the time we spent working on the new cover and building our partnership with 25th Century has made Junk Drawer a much stronger and better looking game, which benefits all of you!  So on to our next steps...

BackerKit Locking Dates

If you recall, we have been holding off on locking pledges and charging add-ons and final shipping charges until much closer to the actual ship date so that we can get as accurate a price as possible.  That process is still ongoing and we are waiting on some information from our fulfillment company as to the final totals for everything.  But for now, we are planning to lock our BackerKit pledges one month from now, on June 24th!  At that time, we will lock all pledges and charge credit cards for any add-ons since the campaign ended and for shipping charges.  We will be posting a more comprehensive shipping update once we have our final information and we will be sending several reminders to make sure folks have had ample opportunities to confirm.  In fact, we will be sending a reminder to anyone who has not completed an order (around 7% of you) after posting this update.

More to come soon!

Production Proof Copy of Junk Drawer Unboxing!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Apr 21, 2023 at 05:30:51 PM

Happy Friday Backers!

We have exciting news to share with you today!  We just received the Production Proof copy of Junk Drawer this afternoon and have an unboxing video to share.

In short, it looks amazing! The item tiles punch out really easily, the linen cards feel great, and the dual-layer boards help keep all of the items together in each section really well.  Here are a few pictures if you aren't able to watch the video.

Small Manufacturing Update

Just a quick update for you as we plan a much larger update on shipping and timelines in the next few weeks.  But as you can see, we have the proof copy which means we are getting close to having the production complete.  We are finalizing our freight logistics and will give you all a better timeline, including pledge locking dates, very soon!

That's all for now, we hope you have a great weekend filled with friends, family, and games!

Junk Drawer Final Rulebook
over 1 year ago – Fri, Mar 17, 2023 at 10:50:36 AM

Hi Backers!

Just a quick update today.  Thank you first of all to the folks who messaged us separately about this, but in our giddyness to get the Print and Play and Flip and Write files in your hands as soon as they were finished, we actually forgot to add the Core Rulebook (covers the physical and Print and Play versions of the game) into the distribution.  However, we have just added that as a download into the BackerKit files and have sent emails to all backers to download it.  Give it a little time to make sure it gets to your inbox, but otherwise please let us know if you did not receive a link within 24 hours.  Additionally, you should be able to follow the previously link and see the new file in the list as well.

Just in case you aren't able to access the downloads, here is a link to the final rulebook as well.

Junk Drawer Rulebook - Final

Also, a quick point of clarification.  Within the Print and Play pdf files, there is a sheet that has all of the item tiles on it.  In order to play Junk Drawer, you need to print one page of those tiles for each player.

Again, sorry about that!  That's all for today, have fun playing Junk Drawer!
